🕵️‍♂️ The Clues are Leaking: Help Us Prevent the Murder of TRL Library!

The "Beige Blueprint" has left behind a trail of muddy pawprints, and the Vigilant Cat needs your sharp eyes to help crack the case before it is too late. Brian the Beige wants you distracted by their color debates, but our feline sleuths have already unmasked the true, dark intentions. By flattening our vibrant library culture into something sterile, they are secretly setting a trap to pull the plug on human staff, lock the doors behind automated keycards, and leave rural branches entirely lifeless. This isn't just budget trimming—it is a stealth mission to completely kill off our local libraries, and we need your help to prevent the murder of our community hubs.

🔍 Grab Your Magnifying Glass and Join the Prowl

We have already mapped out the evidence and lined up the suspects, but stopping this crime requires a powerful crew. The financial records are a self-admitted "crapshoot," millions in taxpayer dollars have vanished into thin air, and the clues point directly to a coordinated shutdown of our branches. We are folding our paws together and inviting you to suss out the truth with us. Check out the blueprint, follow the timeline, and help us blow the whistle. Share our findings with your neighbors, sound the alarm to the Commissioners, and let’s solve this mystery together to save the TRL Library from becoming an isolation chamber of doom!

🔍 Clue 1: Gating the Public via "Family Safety"

The Text: "Open and geared toward safety for families, not activists and homeless."

The Blueprint: Healthy public libraries stay safe and welcoming because trained, professional human staff are on the floor to assist patrons and handle problems.

The Trap: If you strip away the funding for human staff,  you cannot guarantee that open environment. To enforce Brian's specific restrictions without paying for on-site personnel, the administration's logical alternative is to lock the front door behind automated key-card fobs. This turns a vibrant community hub into an unstaffed, restricted-access facility.

🔍 Clue 2: Devaluing Frontline Labor

The Text: "Libraries aren't places to teach about sexuality and librarians aren't therapists. Just get back to being a library."

The Blueprint: In rural branches like Hoodsport, local library workers do so much more than check out physical books. They provide digital literacy training, organize children's programs, and help neighbors gain access to free internet safely.

The Trap: By aggressively reducing a librarian's role to an outdated stereotype—just sitting in a static room full of shelves—the memo strips away the specialized human labor that justifies keeping full-time staff budgets in rural towns. If a library is reduced to nothing but rows of books, a computer kiosk and an automated door lock can easily replace the human workers.

🕵️‍♂️ The Detective’s Conclusion

The case is clear. By forcing a completely plain, sterile environment across the system, the memo provides the exact policy justification the administration needs to pull the plug on human staff at smaller rural branches. Under the guise of "streamlining" and staying "beige," it makes our local community lifelines incredibly cheap and easy to automate.

The Vigilant Cat Library has its eyes wide open, and we will keep tracking these clues to protect our librarians.
