We stand for three main principles to protect our community libraries and tax dollars:
🏛️ 1. Systems Determine Behavior
The Problem: Current library management treats our civic hubs like a cut-throat corporation. They squeeze maximum labor out of frontline staff for minimum cost.
Our Vision: We demand that the TRL Board of Trustees create abundance by putting the well-being of our workers in ALL TRL Counties 1st in Action, not lip-service.
🌱 2. The Shared Abundance Mandate
The Problem: Staff and patrons are suffering because of top-heavy administrative choices and an unresponsive Board of Trustees.
Our Vision: We want to reclaim our libraries as a civic system of mutual care.
The major cities holding library facilities—like Lacey, Olympia, and Shelton—could use their civic voices to pressure the TRL Board.
They must protect frontline workers and ensure safe, equal outreach to our rural counties. “All Flourishing is Mutual.” — Robin Wall Kimmerer
đź’° 3. The Safety Net Saves Money
The Problem: Shocking mismanagement of public tax dollars. While frontline workers faced layoffs, top administrators took massive salary bumps.
Our Vision: We demand they fix the budget internally through these community-backed actions, A successful Levy Lift depends on this.
📉 Trim Bloated Administrative Pay: Roll back top executive salaries to standard historical levels (2023) to put money back into branches.
🛑 Halt "Staffless" Tech Contracts: Stop spending precious tax dollars on expensive automated tech kiosks meant to replace real human library workers.
🔍 Force a Forensic Audit: Demand an independent, external audit of TRL financial records to see exactly how our public tax money was mismanaged.
A Structural Plan and safety net for Our Libraries and mission statement.
The current library management system is broken, but we do not accept that service cuts and worker layoffs are the only answer.
We demand structural accountability, deep financial reform, and a system that respects the public's money and the people who keep our branches running.
Our vision is built on three core pillars:
